Honda started out as a builder of motorcycles in 1940′s war torn Japan. By attaching a small piston engine to a bicycle, Soichiro Honda was able to help revitalize a devastated nation. In the early 1960′s, Honda began producing cars. The tiny Honda 600 was their first car to be imported to the United States. In the 70′s, they brought over the Civic and the flood began. Next to be produced was the Accord. A bit larger than the Civic, it had four doors and a larger engine. Soon came the Prelude, which was the sportier model, made to appeal to women. In 1986, Honda introduced their new upmarket brand, Acura. With the Integra, a sports coupe, and the Legend as their entry into the luxury market.
